Comparation between High School Life and College Life
School is very important in life. When children reach school age, they have to attend school in order to get education as well as to prepare for life and career in the future. According to www.absencesaddup.org, “students who attend school regularly also feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendship, and are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, setting them up for a strong future.” In Thailand, when students graduate from high school, they usually continue their education in college to study higher level of knowledge. In each level of education, Thai students experience changes of life. Both high school and college life give students experiences and opportunities for development and growth. However, high school life and college life in Thailand are similar and different in many ways.There are many similarities between high school life and college life in Thailand. First of all, both high school and college have the same teaching methods and types of educational materials. Lecture is teaching method that is usually used in high school and college. Students can study by reading textbooks while teachers give lecture. Secondly, college students have to join some school activities just like high school students do. There are activities provided that students have to participate while they study in high school and college such as sport activity or sport game which is held every year. Thirdly, high school students and college students study hard and expect to get good grades. The students experience stressful examination weeks. They will be very stressed out and disappointed when their GPAs are far below their expectations.
However, high school life and college life in Thailand have several differences. First, college students create their own class schedules while high school students do not. In high school, students have to follow the schedules that the school has created for them but when they study in college, students are responsible for creating their class schedules. Additionally, the contents taught in college are more complicated than the contents in high school. High school students learn basic and general knowledge. On the other hand, college students learn the contents in their fields that are deeper and more particular. Lastly, high school students live with their parents but college students mostly live in dormitories without parents, it makes college students are more independent because they have to manage things by themselves; such as financial management, while high school students depend on their parents most of the time.
In conclusion, there are several similarities and differences between high school life and college life in Thailand. As growing up, we cannot avoid changes even the changes of life in school. Students should be able to adjust to new environment, gain experiences, and learn as much as they can while they study in school to prepare themselves for working life.
